“18.05.2023 Ada-Lessing Park Hameln“

Linsingen Kaserne – Gordon Barracks – Ada-Lessing Park, three names – one place in Hameln.

Most of the buildings of the former barracks on Süntelstraße in Hameln have been demolished in recent years. Only the Officers Mess and the RHQ building survived the demolition.

As of today, part of the site has been made accessible to the public, and it seems the populace of the newly named place will embrace it.

On the first day there was already a lot of activity in the sports and leisure areas that were set up, as we, a soldier of the British Army who was formerly stationed there, and I could observe. Sunbathing, cycling, table tennis, basketball and Parcours is possible on the very well laid out sports and lawn areas. We heard two elderly ladies say that they already like the Ada-Lessing Park much better than the Bürgergarten in the city.

Particularly noteworthy that the memorial stone, which commemorates the British troops stationed here in Hameln, stands almost exactly where the original stone stood in the barracks. Let’s hope that the park stays in this beautiful condition.
