Museumsbesuch im Urlaub, ach wie langweilig. Falsch!

Unser 3-stündiger Besuch im NORTH POLE EXPEDITION MUSEUM in Longyearbyen hätte gut und gerne noch länger dauern können. Eindrucksvoll präsentiert das Museum die Anstrengungen der Menschheit den Nordpol zu erreichen und die Arktis zu erkunden. Viele Entdecker hatten sich das auf Ihre Agenda geschrieben und einige haben es auch geschafft mit den verschiedensten Mitteln. Ob mit Luftschiff, Flugzeug, Schlitten oder Schneeschuhen. Zeitgenössische Fotos, Zeitungsberichte aus aller Welt dokumentieren den Entdeckerdrang auf der Insel. Auch digitalisierte Filme aus der Zeit laufen ständig auf verschiedenen Monitoren und zeigen, lustiges, spannendes und auch trauriges aus der großen Ära der Entdecker.

Zahlreiche Artefakte und Originalausrüstungsgegenstände untermauern die Geschichten der Entdecker, allen voran Roald Amundsen.

Auch anderen großen Namen wird hier Tribut gezollt, wie dem Italiener Nobile und dem Amerikaner Wellmann. 

Aber das soll es auch gewesen sein, was ich über die Ausstellung schreiben möchte,

denn es soll ja spannend bleiben für euch, wenn Ihr es selbst einmal besucht. Ich kann es Euch aber auf jeden Fall empfehlen.

Ganz besonders ist die Freundlichkeit der Museumsangestellten zu erwähnen.

Zu jeder Zeit ansprechbar und auskunftsfreudig. Auch für das anschließende nette Gespräch und Tipps bedanken wir uns an dieser Stelle noch einmal herzlich. 

Übrigens, ein Blick in den Souvenir Shop lohnt sich.

Interessante Bücher über Svalbard und die Themen hier im Museum, ebenso schöne Accessoires und Kunsthandwerk gibt es hier zu erwerben.

Visiting a museum on vacation, oh how boring. Incorrect!

Our 3-hour visit to the NORTH POLE EXPEDITION MUSEUM in Longyearbyen could easily have lasted longer. The museum impressively presents humanity’s efforts to reach the North Pole and explore the Arctic. Many explorers had this on their agenda and some managed to do it using a variety of means. Whether by airship, plane, sleigh or snowshoes. Contemporary photos and newspaper reports from all over the world document the urge to explore on the island. Digitized films from that time are also constantly running on various monitors and show funny, exciting and also sad things from the great era of explorers.

Numerous artifacts and original equipment support the stories of the explorers, especially Roald Amundsen.

Other big names are also paid tribute here, such as the Italian Nobile and the American Wellmann.

But that’s what I want to write about the exhibition, because I want it to remain exciting for you once you visit it yourself.

But I can definitely recommend it to you.

The friendliness of the museum employees is particularly worth mentioning.

Always approachable and willing to provide information. We would also like to thank you again for the nice conversation and tips that followed.
